Route 66, May 27th, 2017

commentary and photos by Donna
Donna led 15 hikers in search of the Route 66 rock which is across the birch lined upper dam behind Nordic Minesite where a road connects to meet the Trans Canada Trail. Some of us call this trail Route 66 because many years ago that's what was printed on a rock along this route. We saw a few erratics at the end of the birch lined trail. One was of such an enormous size that Phil and Bill couldn't even fit in the picture I took of it.
Of course we had the blackflies and mosquitoes hitchhiking with us during the hike.  Emily and Joan wanted to hitchhike even further.  One lonely orchid was discovered along the way.  We wondered what animal rubbed its antlers on this tree.  Suggestions?  PHOTOS
